UNIVERSITY OF BENIN ADMISSION UPDATE – Must Read for all Aspirants
After receiving a letter from LEDAP saying no further screening should be conducted, the vice chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Osasere orumwense has reacted over the letter saying our hands are tied as we await the outcome of the policy meeting.
- The VC also said scrapping the exam is not a big deal since they have done that in 2016 but they still admitted credible applicants. In his words, the VC has this to say…
“We only reinstated the exam after the Minister of Education gave us the go ahead. Since a Federal High court has declared the exam illegal, we are waiting for official report from the Education minister to know our next plan of action. Universities didn’t initiated post-utme in the first place, but it was the personal decision of a former Education minister. If they want us to admit applicants based on their UTME, we shall obey. But like I said before, we have to hear from the horse’s mouth.
“The university of Benin is a Federal school, and federally operated. We don’t do things on our own as we take orders from the Federal government. After reading that letter, I just laughed.
“The agents of the legal defence and assistant project shouldn’t be too hostile towards this since we are matured enough to understand the penalty for disobeying a court’s order. If the Federal Government is not in support of this excercise, we shall scrap it without hesitation. Before post-utme was brought in 2005, we have been admitting candidates with their UTME. “
The Nairapals Team have nothing much to say on this other than to advise the public to disregard any rumour from anyone including staff of the school until we arrive at a conclusion and adopt which ever method JAMB want to use for this year admission process come June, 26th meeting.
